RARE CHELSEA PORCELAIN RED ANCHOR MOULDED POLYCHROME BOWL

The large bowl, spirally lobed form, the base with further spiral moulding
and painted in green and puce with a band of upright acanthus leaves,
below small sprays of polychrome European flowers and scattered floral sprays,
the interior with further scattered floral sprays; the rim dressed in iron red
red anchor mark verso, painted inside the footrim

Note :
This particular type of acanthus leaf moulding appears on white wares of the "raised anchor" period.
A white lobed saucer with "swirling acanthus leaf moulding underneath", 1750-52,
resides in the Salisbury and Wiltshire Museum (Plate #56, Chelsea Porcelain, Elizabeth Adams).
The form continued in production into the "red anchor" period.
Condition : Interior floral decoration refreshed; otherwise excellent, without chips or cracks;
one tiny nick to the interior side of the brown edge rim
