18th CENTURY PETIT POINT & NEEDLEWORK IN WOOL
England, c1750

 

 

The rectangular canvas finely stitched in wool petit point and running stitch,
the center a landscape depicting a shepherdess with her hound and two sheep,
being serenaded by a two colorfully dressed gentlemen - one with a drum, the other with a horn,
all beneath trees with birds and a sun in splendor;
the surrounding border comprising a highly decorative floral spray or various colorful flora,
including carnations, forget-me-nots, tulips sunflowers, morning glories and roses 

 

Condition : Excellent for age, with minor fading and small areas of thread loss;
as yet unframed
