VICTORIAN STANDING BRASS SPANIEL DOORSTOP
England, last quarter of the 19th Century

 

 

 

The handled doorstop modeled as an upright leafy stalk with two curving tendrils siding a cluster of upright berries,

the stalk rising from behind a seated spaniel resting on a foliate D-shaped plinth and resting on an iron serpentine base;

all having a flat back

 

Condition : Excellent; very heavy

 

These are very convenient for use, as there is no need to bend over to move the stop
