the terminal ending in a leaf scrolled cap; each engraved with contemporary cypher script L's;
the polished carbon steel Scimitar III blades (unmarked) appear original;

Notes :
William Abdy I is registered as a London 'haft-maker', registering his first mark in 1763.
In 1769, Abdy is known to have used incuse marks on small wares.
This particular gadrooned and leaf-capped form is shown in British Cutlery, Peter Brown -
all listings noting a Sheffield origin. This offering however is London.
This form is a somewhat rarer than the usual acanthus leaf scrolled cap

the blades in good condition with normal wear
Marks : maker's marks of incuse WA, and WA in punch; mostly rubbed but all legible;
the lion passant rubbed but also visible on each
