Set of 6 George III Scottish Hanoverian Silver TABLE Spoons, IT over FH (Howden & Taylor), Edinburgh, 1782

 

 

Of heavy gauge silver and quite well shaped, in the Hanoverian pattern,
the oval bowls with a single drop bowl surmounted by a wonderful broad tapering shaft
ending in an upturned terminal engraved with contemporary script initials 'JW'
 
* Makers :
Francis Howden and John Taylor registered together in Edinburgh , 1783 (Jackson's Revised, p. 682).
Taylor registered alone, 1770, and Howden, 1781.

 
Condition : Excellent with wear appropriate to age and usage; the bowls with good full tips;
edge tip of one with buffed-out abrasion (shown below);
maker's marks quite clear, a few town marks rubbed
 
8-3/8" Long / 12.7 oz.
