RARE SET OF 3 George II Irish Silver HANOVERIAN 3-TINE DESSERT Forks

James Champion*, Dublin, c1740

 

 

 

 Of good gauge silver, each with three full length tines,

the shaft with slight upper ridge and a pip to the upturned terminal,

 the terminal engraved with a naked arm holding in the hand a dagger ppr. :

Ireland - Ganstin, Rowan (of Oldstone and Mallans, and Mt. Davy’s, co. Antrim),

 White of Richardstown

 

Also the following in England and Scotland :

Alexander, Aylet, Baines, Cerrey, Budege, Campbell, Charteris, Chenevix, Clark, Dalmahoy, Dunlop,

Erskine, Finlay, Gallaway, Galloway, Gordon, Gorman, Keith, Loftus, Macdonalld, Mackenzie,

*Mark :  "I .C" in a rectangular punch with canted corners, as found on a soup ladle

Condition : Excellent, marks only slightly rubbed; good to excellent length to tines - very minor wear;

expected knife wear to tine ends, as shown above; two tines with minor bend

 

6.75” Long / 2.9 oz.
