The Queen Anne Britannia Standard scissor-form snuffer (wick trimmer)
having a rounded case crested (possibly later) with a demi-pegasus wings addorsed;

The George II shaped oblong snuffer tray with flying scroll handle and moulded border,
raised on four hoof feet ; of quite heavy gauge silver;
the handle crested with an antelope's head, horned and erased

Marks :

Snuffer : Makers mark Co beneath a crown, and lion's head erased within case

The Stand : Fully marked, all marks good;
the makers mark and date marks slightly rubbed to one side

"Snuffers, which are of scissor form, were used for trimming wicks which had not burned down with the candles.

There are only a very few snuffers in existence prior to 1700". Peter Waldron, Guide To Antique Silver
This Matthew Cooper snuffer dates to 1704.
