Each of ribbed escallop shell form painted in puce, the center with floral sprays surrounded by three
further smaller sprays and vining handle, the verso also ribbed and
painted with floral sprays, puce line border decoration
Condition: Excellent, minor glaze fritting at the handle/bowl juncture
Note: Sweetmeats are sweet delicacies, as candy, or crystallized fruit preserved in sugar. Many lovely
service pieces from silver, porcelain and glass were made for serving sweetmeats during the 17th, 18th
and early 19th centuries. We are fortunate to have this pair that have remained together for
approximately 250 years.
