The molded circular-shaped basin resting on three S-scroll legs
above a above a triangular canted section enclosing two
mahogany-lined drawers supported by three further S-scroll legs with
circular dished under-tier below, resting on three dramatically
stretched cabriole legs on pad feet
Note :
Of interest is that a piece of
furniture especially designed for washing does not appear until the
mid- 18th century. Thomas Chippendale is the 3rd edition of the “Director” illustrates 3 models, entitled
“Bason Stands”.
Only one is shown on a single
standard, the other on 4 legs.
Thomas Sheraton later noted :
“...a circular tripod basin-stand is
entirely novel and designed for a young lady to wash at”.
The breadth of stance on the this
basin stand is quite grand. Also note the curved supports.

the second tier, as expected with age and usage;
