GEORGE II CARVED WALNUT CORNER CHAIR

England, c1750

 

 

 

With a fine rich mellow color, the back with a raised shaped crestrail centered upon flat outward-scrolling shaped arms, supported on three tapering round columns with turned capitals and bases, and flanking a pair of open pierced vasiform splats rising from molded shoes; all above an upholstered square slip seat with straight seatrails and raised upon deeply chamfered square legs joined by square box stretchers; the slip seat upholstered in antique cotton damask

 

Provenance : Alfred Bullard, Philadelphia

 

Condition : Excellent, wear appropriate to age; glorious color and patination
