GEORGE II SILVER HANOVERIAN LARGE SOUP LADLE
Elias Cachart, London, 1748

 


 

Of heavy gauge silver, the long slender shaft with upturned tip above a deep large bowl,

the terminal verso nicely engraved with a contemporary cypher monogram ML or MX with bellflower and flourishes

 

Elias Cachart, a London Huguenot silversmith, registered his mark in 1742,
and was probably the largest maker of spoons and forks of the mid-18th century.

 

Condition : Excellent with normal wear; without breaks or repairs; small knock to bowl

 

14.75" Long, The Bowl 4" Wide x 1.25" Deep / 9 Oz.
