RARE GEORGE II DIE-CAST SILVER MUSTARD SPOON

Elizabeth Tuite (likely) London, c1750-55

A rare fancy back and front die-cast spoon in the Hanoverian pattern
with blunt bowl characteristic of the egg spoon,
the handle die-cast with a figure of a haloed Diana with her bow and bounty
within an elaborate rococo cartouche,
the bowl verso with a well cast basket of flowers within an arabesque cartouche;
the terminal crested with an arm in armour lying fesse and holding a dagger
Marks :
Lion passant of the George II period ending 1755;
E.T within a lozenge (likely Elizabeth Tuite, Grimwade 3557);
second letter only partially visible due to the narrow shaft

Condition : Excellent with normal wear of tiny scratches and scuffs
Ref :
"Mustard spoons of the type shown here (elongated stems) first appear,
with Hanoverian stems, about 1750…..
The bowl of this spoon is very similar to that of the earliest egg spoons
(appearing from the late 18th century." (English Silver Spoons, Michael Snodin)
