George III Silver Double Crested Goblet, Aldridge & Green, 1770

 

Of heavy gauge silver, the cup shaped bowl raised on a stem with bladed knop,
over a circular stepped and reeded base with gadrooned footrim;
the body engraved with the crest :
a lion couchant gardant at the foot of a tree

on the reverse :

a lion's head erased, on breast two crossed arrows, barbed & feathered and guttee d'or

 

Condition : Excellent, with only light wear to the edge decoration of bladed knop;
crisp engraving to the crest and marks

 

 

6.5" High, 3-1/8" Wide at Rim, The Foot 3.25" Wide / 8 oz.
