The upholstered straight back with a back-scrolling serpentine crestrail

above an upholstered trapezoidal seat, raised on four cabriole legs,

the wide front knees nicely carved with scrolling foliate border returns
and descending to energetic and well carved ball and claw feet,
the back legs raked and with out-turned feet and knee returns;
all raised on apparently original inset castors

Condition : Excellent; rich color and patination;

much of the original shellac worn away from othe front legs;

retaining quite old if not original horsehair, jute and linen coverings,

with the remains of black wool padding;

one front knee with old peg stabilization.

If desired, we will assist in recovering, as it would be nice to see the original interior retained.
Also available : early 19th century Italian rich saffron gold silk damask, enough for coverage.
(The early silk damasks as well as yellows are entirely different than those offered today).
