FIRST PERIOD WORCESTER FLUTED TEABOWL & SAUCER

“Gillyflower”, England, c1770

 

 

 Of soft creamy soft paste porcelain, the fluted teabowl and saucer each painted in underglaze bright blue with

a carnation (or pink) with scattered floral sprigs, the rims with a single blue line;

the verso of each with an underglaze open crescent

 

Note :

The Gillyflower pattern was faithfully copied by Worcester from French porcelain,

in particular Chantilly.

 

Condition : Excellent; scalloped rims without nicks, chips or restoration

 

The Saucer : 5” Diameter
