FIRST PERIOD WORCESTER PORCELAIN FEATHER-MOLDED PUNCH BOWL

England, c1762-75, with Rare W Mark

 

 

 

 

 

The deep round blue and white bowl with feather molded form and painted with floral sprays and sprigs,

the interior with further floral decoration; rare sans serif W mark verso, the mark used between 1762-75; 

most  bowls offered in this molded form seem to be the smaller “slop” or “waste” bowls

 

Condition: Excellent, without cracks, chips or repairs; some glaze wear to interior

 

Note of interest:

The inspiration for this molded form of upside down peacock feathers seems to have been

a Paul de Lamerie 1735 silver coffee pot
