FINE GEORGE III CUT AND ENGRAVED MASONIC TUMBLER
England, c1810

 

 

 

Of heavy weight lead glass (12.6 oz.),
the cylindrical glass beautifully engraved to the front with Masonic imagery :

 

a Holy Book with Masonic Square Cover over resting on a Masonic Alter within a Royal Arch,
surmounted by an All-Seeing Eye, sided by the Sun, and the Crescent Moon and Seven Stars;
the alter supported by a Compass opened over a Trying Square, Level and Plumb;
being flanked to the left by a Ruler with 24 hash marks, over a Perfect Ashlar;
and being flanked to the right side by a three-step Jacob's Ladder,
a Maul, a Rough Ashlar, and a Chisel;
all within Twin Pillars and atop a floor of Mosaic Pavement
of Checkerboard Pattern comprising 24-squares

 

the reverse with conjoined script initials BP within a pair of Barley shafts;
the weighted base with eleven flutes below a horizontal bevel,
sharply star-cut to the verso

 

Condition : Excellent; one insignificant scratch on the footrim, shown in the last image;
beautiful detailed engraving, sharply cut fluted and base;
of high quality

 

3-3/4" High x 3-5/8" Wide (The Rim), 3" Wide (The Foot)
