CHARLES I OAK JOINT STOOL

Charles I Oak Joint Stool, England, c1620

 

Of usual form, having a solid seat with a moulded edge,
above a moulded frieze with scroll motifs,
raised on square section and turned tapering legs joined by peripheral stretchers

 

Note : Of substantial weight with fine patina.

Though once standard seating in a 17th century dwelling,

the joint stool still serves not only as the additional pull-up stool, but an excellent small side table.

 

Condition : Good for age with wear appropriate to age and usage;
chips, scratches and abrasions as well as filled age split – some to top;
some old worm damage visible; the usual re-gluing of dried out joints

 

21.5" High x 17.5" Long x 1.25" Deep
