Still reflecting the late 17th century Chinese influences, a superb early walnut side chair with a raised crestrail ending in
applied decoration, above “bended” back and stiles, over a padded seat in the William & Mary manner, the front
cabrioles of quite fine form, curving over at the seat juncture with applied endings and terminating in pad feet, the rear
legs extending the fine sweep of the rake and ending in block feet, the legs connected by block and turned stretchers
Condition: Excellent; a repair at the splat/crestrail joint; a repair one stretcher and to one front toe;
in horsehair and muslin, ready for upholstery
