REGENCY ROSEWOOD STAND, with scrolled toes

England or Ireland, c1815

 

 

    

 

A rare and “one off" upright stand of superb quality, having three graduated round dished and reeded tiers, 

and supported by three rosewood round splayed legs surmounted by round knops and

ending in scrolled toes with subtle stippled and incised designs which impart the illusion of rams’ horns;

the tiers of rosewood veneer on mahogany substrate

 

Condition : Excellent color and patination; each tier with a slight warp to the wood;

one small loss to the edge molding on the middle tier at the leg juncture (shown below)

 

Provenance : Bearing Apter-Fredericks, London label verso, and with original receipt

 

31” High x 20” Wide (over feet); Tiers, 12-3/8”, 12-3/4”, 13-1’4”
