RARE GEORGIAN OLD SHEFFIELD CLOSE PLATE SNUFF / TOBACCO BOX

England, Late 18th Century

 

 

 

 

 The bellows form snuff or tobacco box with foliate engraving (possibly the holly and the ivy) to the hinged lid,

opening to a steel interior; brass blower tip; the verso unengraved

 

Excellent condition with no bleed; hinge tight; heavy gauge metal; some residual resistant tarnish

 

3-3/8” Long x 1-5/8” Wide (at widest point) / 1.9 oz.
