RARE CONTINENTAL SILVER-GILT SWEETMEAT FORK

c1700, silver mark to terminal, probably French

 

 

 

The small three-tine fork with a flat tapering shaft ending in a “dognose” variant terminal,

the shaft with fruit and foliate chasing within a plain narrow border;

small silver mark to terminal edge  - probably French (too small to read)

 

Condition : Excellent with crisp chasing and no wear to the tines;

expected small scratches to the original silver-gilt

 

NOTE : These images are oversized for inspection.
