LATE QUEEN ANNE / EARLY GEORGE I WALNUT SIDE CHAIR

England,c1710-1720

 

 

 

 

Of generous proportions and figured walnut and walnut veneer,
with bended-back and finely carved shell-carved knees,

the incurved crest rail surmounted by a small paper scroll and above a solid shaped splat
and trapezoidal seat, the front cabriole legs with exceptional double C-scrolls,
and ending in pad feet, block and turned stretchers

       

Condition: Excellent; rich color; old well done repair to crest rail and splat/stile junctures

  

Provenance: Private Collection of David H. Wilson, New Jersey
