Of ovoid form, the bodies with wavy rims raised on three cabriole legs ending in trefoil drake feet, flying scrolled
handles, each initialed G over R * A on the belly
Mark: see Grimwade # 3693, each maker’s mark partially rubbed but legible. These marks have been found
on various hollowware from 1736-1760, and recorded as possibly a "member of the (Samuel)Wood family".
Samuel Wood, a well known caster maker, was active 1733-1773, is reported as
Warden of Goldsmith's Hall, 1758-60, and Prime Warden in 1763. He died 1794.
