GOOD SET OF FOUR GEORGE IV SILVER NEOCLASSICAL CANDLESTICKS
Creswick & Co. Sheffield, 1820

 

 

Of tapering form on a circular base,
the lower stem decorated with vertical columns of acanthus leaves above a knop of acanthus,
the foot with a row of acanthus leaves alternating with flowerheads above a plain upright footrim;
the shoulders with further acanthus alternating with flowerheads;
the urn shaped nozzles with basal acanthus leaves,
the bobeches with acanthus alternating with flowerheads, as the footrims;
pitch filled to the interior; the undersides with felt-lined bases;
each fully marked to footrim and bearing various "set" numbers

 

Condition : Excellent; with scattered very minor pin denting,
and wear appropriate to age and usage; crisp marks
