George III GADrOONED Silver Wine Funnel Stand

Peter & William Bateman, London, 1813

 

 

 

 Of heavy gauge silver, the round stand with a domed and crested center,

surrounded by a finely gadrooned border,

the center engraved with the crest of Outlawe, Little Wickingham, co. Norfolk :

a demi-wolf proper, pierced through the side with an arrow or, feathered and headed argent, the arrow in bend sinister (Fairbairn?s, and The General Armory, Burke)

 

(Thomas Outlawe, of Wickingham, County Norfolk, son of Ralph Outlawe, first

granted Arms and Crest (by Camden) in June 1613)

 

Condition : Excellent; good marks, with the maker's mark struck askew but quite legible
