PAIR of EARLY GEORGE III SILVER SAUCE BOATS

William Grundy, London, 1762

 

 

 

 

Of heavy gauge, each of deep ovoid form with reeded rims and high pouring lips, raised on three shell

headed hoofed feet; flying scroll acanthus leaf capped handles;

each belly engraved with crest of a demi-lion out of a mural coronet, in paws an unknown tool
 

Condition:  Excellent; with one leg/body joint with silver solder reinforcement and minor corresponding interior wrinkle;

marks rubbed but legible

 

4.5" High x 6.75"Long  /  18.4 Oz.
