GEORGE III SILVER GOBLET
John Swift (Junior), London, 1779

 

 

The ovoid bowl having a gilded interior and engraved with a crest :

 

a cubit arm erect, vested and cuffed,
the sleeve charged with a pils arg., holding in the hand a scimitar
(for Jolliffe of Somerset)

 

above a shaped stem headed by a beaded collar,
descending to a circular stepped foot also with beaded border;
inscribed beneath the foot for a marriage :

H over I * M and 1780

 

Condition : Excellent; with good marks verso, the maker's mark rubbed to the top

 

6" High / 7 oz.
