EARLY GEORGIAN BRASS PEDESTAL SNUFFER STAND & SCISSORS

England, c1720-40

The scissor form snuffers with arched box and ring grips, the apparently original pedestal stand with elongated container with two holes at the base and sided by a ring grip, above a single-knopped stem and slightly dished center within a square base, canted and ribbed at the corners

Condition : Excellent for age and usage.

Of note :

Shown immediately below is a small mark on the scissor blade, that appeared to be a maker's mark.

A Canadian colleague coincidentally owns an identical set, having the mark in the exactly same place.

On our behalf, he researched the unusual coincidence, finding that it is more likely

a mark from the mold and casting process than a maker's mark.
