EARLY 18TH CENTURY SILVER & AGATE SNUFF BOX

Probably English (George I / II), c1720-30, Unmarked

 

 

 

The cartouche-shaped lid over an oval body with concave sides,
the whole with chased floral decoration

 interspersed with panels of diapering within reeded rims,
the cover inset with agate oval, whose color reflects the gilt interior

 

Condition : Good to excellent;  small blemish to thread around the agate;

otherwise excellent, with good definition to the chased decoration
