18TH CENTURY SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE ENAMEL  EGG-FORM BOX with GILT METAL MOUNTS

The egg-form box in two parts, beautifully painted in enamels with vignettes of small figures (native warriors?) and sheep with sailing vessels and ruins in landscapes before the sea, within heavy gilt arabesques, reserved upon a white enamel dot and curve enhanced viridian green ground; gilt metal mounts

 

Condition : Several tiny and very minor hairlines and nicks to the body (characteristic of enamelware);

two restored chips to the bottom end;

wear to mount gilt, (appearing more exaggerated in the oversized images than at same size)
