17th CENTURY MANGANESE & YELLOW MULTI-LOBED DELFT CHARGER

England, c1680-1700

 

 

The multi-lobed tin glazed pottery charger painted in manganese and yellow,
the central roundel with a seated Chinese figure in a fenced landscape
surrounded by a border of stylized flowers,
the rim painted with a continuous scene of further standing and seated Chinese figures
in various land- and river-scape settings, all within a double line manganese border;
the undecorated backside having a painter's mark within the ring footrim

 

Condition : Very good; the usual Delft rim chips;

two fine hairlines to the body, showing in the upper half
