The rhinoceros-horn 'form' porcelain blanc de chine cups,
(these known today as "libation cups")
was believed by the Chinese to carry to the drinker
some of the magical and medicinal powers of the rhinoceros horn .
Dehua Porcelain :
A unique characteristic of Dehua porcelain (from the Ming period forward)
is the addition of a very small amount of iron oxide,
allowing the glaze to fire to a warm white or pale ivory color,
The glaze is traditionally referred to as "ivory white" and "milk white",
its color is quite different from the Imperial porcelain of Jingdezhen.

glaze chip to footrim
